Postdoctoral Position in the Systematics of Parasitic Hymenoptera
A postdoctoral position is available to participate in an NSF-funded Planetary Biodiversity Inventory (PBI) project on the parasitoid wasps of the superfamily Platygastroidea. The goals of this project are to work on the basic systematics of a major group of these wasps and to undertake a comprehensive phylogenetic analysis of the superfamily.

Visiting Fellowships at the Australian Museum
Applications for visiting fellowships at the Australian Museum are open for 2010.
The Australian Museum website has details on the type of fellowships available. Note that the web page has not been updated since last year, so the closing date for applications is 30th April 2010.

Le Souëf Memorial Award
The Entomological Society of Victoria, an AES affiliated Society, currently invites members of the Australian entomological community to nominate suitable candidates for the Le Souëf Memorial Award. This award recognises the very substantial role played by amateurs in the development of knowledge of our insect fauna. The award currently comprises books or entomological equipment (of the winner’s choosing) to the value of $250 . Applications are invited for a top-up scholarship for a PhD student to join a research team investigating the effects of climate change on community structure and function for temperate grassland invertebrates. The PhD position will be based in Dr Heloise Gibb’s research laboratory at La Trobe University, Melbourne, with collaborators from the University of NSW and the University of New England. The scholarship would provide an additional stipend of $5000 per annum and the applicant’s research will be supported by operating funds from an ARC grant. An extension of support to 3.5 years for up to 6 months in the form of a full scholarship would also be considered.

Expressions of interest are sought for a PhD project on post-copulatory sexual selection of tephritid fruit flies in Macquarie University’s Department of Brain, Behaviour & Evolution (BBE). The project would be carried out in the Behavioural Biology Research Group under the supervision of A/Prof Phil Taylor.
