I am the biodiversity advisor on Great Barrier Island and have been working with the community in regards to the decline of glow worms from the road corridor. The community believes this is in response to the current road corridor management.
I am currently working with Fulton Hogan to formulate some best practices road corridor management recommendations that may help the glow worm populations. Do you anybody that could help with this? I am just looking at recommendations on vegetation management to provide optimal glow worm habitat.
Currently very minimal spot spraying of weeds is done (less than 5%), flail mowing and scrub bar work. Common weeds present in the damper areas (best glow worm sots) are tradescantia, Mexican devil and plectranthus.
Thanks for your help,
